My Journey As An Author
In the grand scheme, my journey as an author began when I was very young and wrote short stories or poems for fun or for school. However, in terms of writing novels, my journey began when I was sixteen.

In my sophomore year of high school, I took a creative writing class and had a wonderful teacher who encouraged us to expand our stories into books. It was then that I began to write my first novel. This was back in the days of paper and pen, so I literally handwrote it. After the class ended, I continued to write this book, and my teacher supported me through it. When it was finished, I read it to family and friends who all thought it was very creative. But I tucked it away and moved on with my life. I wrote on and off throughout HS and College. Then I had a dry spell. My life took me in different directions, and it wasn’t until four years later that I had the urge to write again.
I had read and fallen in love with the Harry Potter series, and I realized that I had forgotten how much I love fantasy. I tried to read other fantasy books, and nothing ever caught my attention in the same manner. I began to think about if I wrote a fantasy novel, what would be the subject matter and who would the characters be? An idea began to spark in my head. I thought about JK Rowling's version of elves. The small, plain house elves that were the slaves of the wizards. She said that they had magic too that was sometimes even more powerful than the wizards because they were born with it. However, she does not go into more detail. I thought about how different of a vision this was than JRR Tolkien whose elves were tall and majestic and looked similar to humans but with tall ears. The movie version of Lord of the Rings shows the Riverrun elf being able to create a stampede of horses made of water to overtake the dark creatures that are after the Hobbits. I thought this was very neat; in fact, it was my favorite part of that first movie. I thought what a shame that they did not describe their magic or show more of their magic spells. Then I thought, I wish JK Rowling would write an elf series with elves that had the ability to control natural elements like water, air, earth and fire. That would be so cool. But then I realized why should I wait for another author to write a story when I could write one myself?
Over the next week, this thought kept popping into my mind along with characters, spells, scenery for the novel etc. Until finally, I took it as a sign that someone was telling me to write this down. I pulled out my laptop, opened a word document and began writing. I wrote every evening for the next year after work and on the weekends until the book was finished. That was only the beginning of my author journey.

My goal as an author is always to bring positivity to the world. All of my stories have the common theme of overcoming adversity, believing in oneself, working together with others, and protecting our world and society. I hope you enjoy my stories and thank you for being here!
